Bloodworks Northwest Cord Blood Program

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer collector for the Bloodworks Northwest Cord Blood Program.

Our program would not be complete without the nurses, nurse midwives and physicians who so generously give their time to support our mission! Your willingness to collect your patient’s umbilical cord blood can save a life, and is a gift spreading hope to patients in need.

Nurse Holding A Newborn

As a federally regulated program, we require our collectors to be trained in donor eligibility criteria, appropriate collection techniques, and proper packaging and paperwork completion.

There are currently two types of training available, depending on the collector:

  • 最初的培训: designed for collectors who are new to our program, completion of initial training is required before collected cord blood units can be accepted and processed for patient transplant.
  • Annual training renewal: completion of annual re-training is required of all cord blood collectors, prior to the expiration date of the previous year’s training. All cord blood units processing by Bloodworks Northwest requires trained collectors.

To receive training, or if you have any questions regarding cord blood collector training, please call us at 206-689-6696 or e-mailcordblood@bloodworksnw.org
